"Lite brite" -inspired hair, the ultimate nostalgia-inducing ‘do with a twist, is hair that glows in the dark! When placed under a black light, this hair painted masterpiece actually lights up.

Pravana's 2016 Show Us Your Vivids contest winner, Neal Malek, created this look, reminiscent of the classic '80’s toy with a modern, edgy twist. Using an electric combo of Pravana Neons and Vivids, Malek transforms makeup artist and influencer, Ashley Wagner, into a rainbow dream—no batteries required.

Color Formulas

1: 85g Vivids Black + 15g Vivids Violet

2: 20g Vivids Black + 80g Vivids Silver

3: 90g Vivids Silver + ½ Drop Vivids Violet + 1g Vivids Black

4: 50g Neon Green + 10g Pastels Blissful Blue + 30g Neon Yellow

5: 60g Vivids Clear + 10g Neon Green + 10g Neon Yellow

6: 30g Pastels Pretty in Pink + 40g Pastels Too Cute Coral + 5g Neon Pink + 10g Neon Orange

TECHNIQUE:

1. Pre-lighten hair to a Level 9 with Pure Light Power Lightener.

2. Section the hair.

3. Starting at the nape, apply Vivids Formula 1 at the root and Formula 2 from the rooted color down to the ends.

• 1: 85g Vivids Black + 15g Vivids Violet

• 2: 20g Vivids Black + 80g Vivids Silver

1. Work your way up the head in 2-inch sections. The next section is colored as follows:

• Root – Formula 1: 85g Vivids Black + 15g Vivids Violet

• Formula 2: 20g Vivids Black + 80g Vivids Silver

• PASTELS Blissful Blue

• Formula 6: 30g Pastels Pretty in Pink + 40g Pastels Too Cute Coral + 5g Neon Pink + 10g Neon Orange

• PASTELS Blissful Blue

• Formula 2: 20g Vivids Black + 80g Vivids Silver

• Formula 1: 85g Vivids Black + 15g Vivids Violet

1. In the next section, color the hair as follows:

• Root – Formula 1: 85g Vivids Black + 15g Vivids Violet

• Formula 2: 20g Vivids Black + 80g Vivids Silver

• Formula 4: 50g Neon Green + 10g Pastels Blissful Blue + 30g Neon Yellow

• Formula 5: 60g Vivids Clear + 10g Neon Green + 10g Neon Yellow

• Formula 3: 90g Vivids Silver + ½ Drop Vivids Violet + 1g Vivids Black

1. In the next section, alternate between the following color combinations on 2 inch strands:

• 1: Formula 2: 20g Vivids Black + 80g Vivids Silver

• Pastels Blissful Blue

• Formula 3: 90g Vivids Silver + ½ Drop Vivids Violet + 1g Vivids Black

• 2: Formula 2: 20g Vivids Black + 80g Vivids Silver

• Formula 6: 30g PASTELS Pretty in Pink + 40g PASTELS Too Cute Coral + 5g NEON Pink + 10g NEON Orange

• Formula 3: 90g Vivids Silver + ½ Drop Vivids Violet + 1g Vivids Black

• 3: Formula 2: 20g Vivids Black + 80g Vivids Silver

• Formula 5: 60g Vivids Clear + 10g Neon Green + 10g Neon Yellow

• Formula 3: 90g Vivids Silver + ½ Drop Vivids Violet + 1g Vivids Black

• 4: Formula 2: 20g Vivids Black + 80g Vivids Silver

• Formula 4: 50g NEON Green + 10g Pastels Blissful Blue + 30g Neon Yellow

• Formula 3: 90g Vivids Silver + ½ Drop Vivids Violet + 1g Vivids Black

1. When you reach the apex (top of diamond sectioning) apply the following colors in order to the entire section:

• Root-to-Mid Formula 1: 85g Vivids Black + 15g Vivids Violet

• Mid-to-Ends Formula 3: 90g Vivids Silver + ½ Drop Vivids Violet + 1g Vivids Black 

1. As you move into the sides, apply the color in the following order closest to the ear.

• Formula 2: 20g Vivids Black + 80g Vivids Silver

• Formula 3: 90g Vivids Silver + ½ Drop Vivids Violet + 1g Vivids Black 

1. As you move up the head on the sides, apply the color in the following order:

• Formula 2: 20g Vivids Black + 80g Vivids Silver

• Formula 4: 50g Neon Green + 10g Pastels Blissful Blue + 30g Neon Yellow

• Formula 3: 90g Vivids Silver + ½ Drop Vivids Violet + 1g Vivids Black

1. Repeat on other side.

1. Once you reach the fringe, apply in the following order:

• Root Formula 1: 85g Vivids Black + 15g Vivids Violet

• Formula 2: 20g Vivids Black + 80g Vivids Silver

• Formula 5: 60g Vivids Clear + 10g Neon Green + 10g Neon Yellow

• Formula 3: 90g Vivids Silver + ½ Drop Vivids Violet + 1g Vivids Black

1. Process at room temperature 20-30 minutes.

EXTRA:

Color a HaloCouture hair extension while your client is processing and add a pop of pink.

1. Shampoo, condition and protect with Vivids Color Protect aftercare.
