Carla Nightingale (@_hairbycarla_) of Vancouver is a former educator for Schwarzkopf Professional who now works as a private stylist, "but am surrounded by a great team of ladies and we are always trying to inspire and work off of one another." For this client she put that inspiration to good work: "This client came in with a previous ombré we had done a while back . It was a level 4 red melted down to a warm level 8/9."

Here Nightingale shares how she utilized the existing color to update the look, creating a magenta to pearly pink sombre.

Prepare the following formulas:

Schwarzkopf Vario extra power mixed 2:1 with 20 vol , 2 parts developer 1 part lightener

Schwarzkopf Pearlessence Color P 6-89 mixed 1:1 with 10 vol 

Schwarzkopf Pearlessence Color P 9.5-89 mixed 1:1 with 10 vol 

Step 1: Section the hair into 4 quadrants and lighten previously coloured hair with Schwarzkopf Vario Blonde extra power and 20 volume. "Be careful not to hit regrowth or previously lightened hair." Process for approximately 30 minutes lifting to about a level 7.

Step 2: Shampoo , towel dry . Spray BC moisture kick throughout hair to even out porosity . Blow dry hair until completely dry 

Step 3: Apply Schwarzkopf Pearlessence hair color P 6-89 Magenta with 10 volume on roots and blend down using your own creative placement . Process for 30 minutes. 

Step 4: Shampoo with cool water, towel dry very well. At the sink apply Schwarzkopf Pearlessence colour P 9.5-89 with 10 volume on all previously lightened hair . Allow to process for 20 minutes.

Step 5: Shampoo lightly with cool water and then condition.
