Marinello Schools of Beauty, a premier national brand of beauty schools, has launched its 6th Annual Raw Talent Scholarship competition, providing outstanding high school seniors with remarkable talent the opportunity for an education at Marinello and the ability to pursue a dream career in the exciting and lucrative beauty industry. Marinello will award a total of 23 scholarships throughout 62 campuses. Applicants in each region will have the chance to win a $10,000 scholarship, $5,000 scholarship or three one-day professional beauty and wellness workshops valued at more than $1,000. To date, Marinello has presented 43 students with natural talent and true passion for the beauty industry with scholarships and prizes totaling more than $200,000.
“Marinello Schools of Beauty has a long-standing commitment to our local communities, and investing in our highly talented youth is a vital step in helping to make their dreams a reality,” said Marinello Schools of Beauty Vice President of Education Karyn Laitis. “Through our Raw Talent Scholarship competition, our hope is to enable promising high school seniors to pursue a career in beauty by providing the education, resources and tools they need for success.”
To enter the 6th Annual Raw Talent Scholarship competition, candidates are required to submit an essay about how they plan to make a difference in the beauty and wellness industry. The essay will be graded by Marinello’s Scholarship Committee who will evaluate the essays based on content, creativity, spelling, syntax and grammar. Essays may be submitted via postal service or the Marinello website. Applications and instructions are available online at marinello.com/highschoolscholarship.
The second part of the application process includes a hands-on competition where candidates will perform hair and makeup looks on their own models at their local Marinello campus. From April 7-25, 2014, candidates interested in the Cosmetology program will perform formal “updo” hairstyles appropriate for weddings, proms, or special events, and candidates interested in the Esthetics (Skin Care) program will perform their best makeup look. The Marinello school director will take before and after photographs of all participants work and submit to the Scholarship Committee. The deadline for essay and photographs submissions is midnight, April 28, 2013 Pacific Standard Time.
Scholarship winners will be announced 30 days after the competition deadline. To be eligible for the award, recipients who accept the Raw Talent Scholarship must start a Marinello program by September 2014 and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), attendance and all other academic criteria students are responsible for meeting. The scholarship will be awarded upon successful completion of the Marinello program that the student attends and may not be transferred to any other college, university, vocational training program or to cash.
