In a tangible display of its ongoing support for the future of the professional hairstyling industry, Matrix will once again award $100,000 in scholarship money to cosmetology school students in 2016. The scholarships represent the third year of the Matrix Imagine All You Can Be Scholarship program.
"Matrix believes in the power of the hairdresser and, most importantly, the next generation of stylists," says Gail Cohen, Matrix vice president of business development. "This is a chance for students to share their passion, creativity and imagination, and earn a scholarship for the education that will nurture and develop their professional skills."
This year, applicants will be required to create and submit a 60 to 90 second video showing what they imagine they can be. The video must be uploaded to the individual’s YouTube account. From the videos submitted, judges will select 20 students to receive $5,000 scholarships. Entries will be judged on the basis of message, passion and creativity. Entries are now being accepted, and the deadline to submit a video is July 31, 2016. Winners will be announced in September. To be eligible, students must be currently enrolled in cosmetology school, with a planned graduation date no earlier than January 31, 2017.
