To get yourself jumpstarted for a profitable new year, try one or more of these resolutions. Challenging yourself at work will revitalize your enthusiasm and your paycheck!

It’s that time of year again—time to start on the dreaded New Year’s resolutions. Popular personal resolutions include weight loss, financial goals or taking up new hobbies. But how much thought have you given to your professional resolutions? To get yourself jumpstarted for a profitable new year, try one or more of these resolutions. Challenging yourself at work will revitalize your enthusiasm and your paycheck!
1. New Year, New Clients: It’s time to beef up your client roster. A couple of ideas to get you started: Offer incentives to existing clients for referring a friend and/or start carrying your card with you and passing it out whenever you can (parties, out shopping, carpool, etc.). And remember, word-of-mouth is the best advertising you can get—and the cheapest. Give new clients an experience to remember.
2. Your Retail Relationship: No matter how much retail you sell, there’s always room for improvement. Work on developing your selling skills this year. Whether it’s through friendly competition with your co-workers or through advanced education, raising your retail revenues will help you realize a bigger paycheck.
3. Head of the Class: You may have set a personal resolution to take a cooking class or photography class. Don’t forget about all the educational opportunities in your professional life as well. The more educated you are, the more up-to-date you’ll be in styles and trends, which will make you even more valuable to your clients!
4. Color Your Profits: Still have clients resisting color? Now’s the time to change their minds. Ease them into color services with a few face-framing highlights or a touch-up of their gray roots. Emphasize every step you take and the customized color you mix up just for them. This will deter them from trying to do their own color at home.
