THE EVENT:NovaLash’s 7th annual LashOff gala named 2018's Lash Artist of the Year Tonje Fjeldberg Elshaug of Alfaz del Pi, Spain.
THE DETAILS: The gala recognizes the best in lash extension talent, but the event also showcases NovaLash’s dedication to promoting the global lash extension business. This year at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Houston, Elshaug was named 2018's Lash Artist of the Year, the second year in a row the top prize was awarded to a global lash artist.
For Elshaug, receiving Lash Artist of the Year honors, was the culmination of hard work and passion for her craft.
“To be a finalist in LASHoff was overwhelming, but to win Lash Artist of the Year is truly my dream come true," Elshaug says. “It makes me feel that anything is possible. If you never give up, have big dreams and work hard, you can achieve your dream. I hope this win inspires others and I want to say, thank you NovaLash for being one of my biggest motivators.”
Elshaug received the Lash Artist of the Year trophy from NovaLash CEO Sophy Merszei.
Finalists for this award must submit a collection of videos and photographs to showcase skill and the good fashion eye to give each client the perfect NovaLash look. The Lash Artist of the Year is selected after a panel that includes Merszei and MODERN SALON Senior Editor Jamie Newman, among others, who review submitted videos and photographs. Finalists are judged on application technique, product usage, client education and overall communication skills.
WHAT'S NEXT: As Lash Artist of the Year, Elshaug will receive over $25,000 in cash and prizes as well as advertising, marketing and travel opportunities with NovaLash. Her winning status will be announced in a national magazine spread. Like all category winners in the LASHoff competition, she will become a NovaLash Brand Ambassador for the coming year. The company will provide her with marketing, advertising and public relations support for her business and she will have the chance to star in a professional photo shoot.
