A celebration of truth, beauty, freedom, and love, this season’s collection from The Blonds brought Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! The Musical to life through fashion. This season’s nail inspiration paid homage to the most iconic Moulin Rouge scenes and characters. Working closely with David and Phillipe Blond, the CND Design Lab team divided the nail looks into five themes worn by the 28 models and celebrities taking the stage at the Al Hirshfeld Theatre.
The nails represent Bohemian elegance, laden with sparkling diamonds to create a mosaic refraction, set in bold and expressive hues of noir, rouge, and precious metals. Lustful touches of flesh tones adorned with shades of creamy peach and flourishing rose embellishments burst from the nail. Just like The Blonds collection designs, the CND nails invite you to let your imagination run wild in an absinthe-fueled setting like no other.
“Is there a more iconic pairing than the Blonds and Moulin Rouge! The Musical?!” says CND co-founder and style director Jan Arnold. “The moment we learned of this partnership, the CND Design Lab team were set afire with inspiration and creativity. Our incredible portfolio of color lends itself perfectly to the eccentric and extravagant aesthetic of The Blonds show this season and we were thrilled to be a part of the Broadway magic.”

Standout Nail: Vive Le Fleur by CND Design Lab Artist Tracey Lee
Taking a total of 20 hours for one set, Lee hand-sculpted a stiletto-shaped nail using CND Retention+ Liquid + Powder, ensuring the ultimate slim and sleek shape versus using a pre-made tip. After meticulously painting each nail with classic CND shade Cream Puff and the perfect nude, Baby Smile from the CND fall Treasured Moment collection, Lee created a French tip effect that mirrored the look of a plunging neckline. To add a subtle naughtiness, a lurex-printed quilting was embossed on the Baby Smile base of the nail to create a snake skin texture. A labor of love, Lee created the rose embellishments with CND Retention+ Liquid + Powder, starting first from the center bud, and adding additional petals one by one, to form the full roses you see sitting atop each nail. The grand finale, aurum Swarovski, gold-framed pearls, and gold bullion create a garden of glamour for the stunning roses to flourish in.
