Christina Nesse (@thefierceblonde) of Philys Cuts Beauty Salon and Barber Shop, Brick Township, NJ, says “This client came to me after an entire year of regrowth!! A natural level 7 with yellow ends. She wanted to be platinum so that’s exactly what she got!!”
Here Nesse shares the details using allJoico products:
STEP 1: Prep hair with Joico Defy Damage.
STEP 2: Applied Joico Blonde Life Powder with 20 volume at her roots. Process for 25 minutes and then shampoo and condition using Joico Defy Damage.
STEP 3: Re-apply Joico Blonde Life Powder with 20 volume 1/2 inch from the root and process for another 1/2 hour and then run lightener through the ends for five minutes.
STEP 4: Wash and condition with Joico Defy Damage and tone using Joico Lumishine DD Creme 1/2 8SB 1/2 10SB with 5 volume, equal parts for 10 minutes.
STEP 5: Wash with Joico Defy Damage Shampoo and seal using Defy Damage Pro series 2.Process for 5 minutes.
PRO TIP: “Tip when I do platinum blonde, I prefer always first putting the lightener on the root because that is always the first to lift (due to the heat from scalp). When that lifts to a level 9/10, I wash and re-apply, leaving out the root so that I can avoid damage to create the perfect canvas to match the mid shaft and ends to in order to achieve the perfect platinum.”
