THE EVENT: ORIBE Backstage "LaFama", held in Miami Beach, Florida, June 8 - 10, 2013.
THE DETAILS: 1500 salon professionals from around the world came to Miami Beach, Florida to experience the event which included The Oribe Open Golf Tournament, 3rd Annual VIP Celebrity Poker Tournament, Welcome Party, Shore Thing Pool Party, Farewell Party and more:
THE OWNER'S FORUM: "Idealogue" was a full day of business education offering salon owners easy to implement ideas to enhance client relationships and bottom lines. Speakers included Wella CEO Reuben Carranza; salon icons Adam Broderick, Jack Panico and Gary Gemma; and business legends Stew Leonard Jr., Roger Faxon and Ian Ginsberg.
THE SHOW: Attendees were treated to THE SHOW which took each on a journey through the Latin Culture via Oribe's eyes. "It was all about art and referencing and true insight into Oribe's creative process," says Daniel Kaner, Oribe Founder and CEO. "He gave us a three dimensional homage to Latin influences and acted as a narrator throughout the amazing voyage."

The finale of the workshop included a runway presentation and photoshoot, all leading to the selection of....
THE ONE: A highlight of the Hands-On event was the selection of THE ONE, a stylist selected to receive a 6 month mentorship from Oribe himself. Kevin Green from the Luigi Bruni Salon in Birmingham, Michigan was chosen by Oribe to be his protege. Modern will be following Green's progress throughout the rest of the year.
CELEBRITY SIGHTINGS: There were many high profile artists in attendance and Modern was able to grab a couple interviews. Famed celebrity stylist and salon owner Garren was there to support Oribe on opening night. "He was my 'ONE' when he first started," says Garren. "I am so proud of him." Celebrity colorist Anthony Palermo (owner of the Anthony Leonard Salon) creates all the color designs for Oribe's wigs. "Lately he is all about 'staining' the hair," he says. (Check out these two video interviews to learn more from Palermo, as well as Garren and Thom Priano who were there when Oribe began his career.)
THE PURPOSE: "Backstage was how we planned it: challenging, unusual and progressive,” said Oribe co-president Tev Finger. “Oribe tends to be ahead of where the fashion is, so we offered a window into the future. We hope they use what they learned and try to push the envelope a little more with their clients, and I hope they realize that they can be THE ONE every day that they show up to the salon.”
PARTING WORDS: "You could feel the love and the energy throughout the event," says Oribe. "It was the most incredible experience of my life."
