A NAHA and Fashion Week regular, noted platform artist Charlie Price has more than two decades in the professional beauty industry, working tirelessly to perfect his craft of hairdressing. He has worked backstage creating finishes for Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Dolce and Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Carolina Herrera and miu miu; and was named lead hairdresser for Jeremy Scott, Peter Som, Jason Wu, Charlotte Ronson, Catherine Malandrino and Cynthia Rowley, among others. His popularity soared after his TV appearance as a competitor on Bravo’s Shear Genius. Based at the Halo Salon in Denver, Price is the International Creative Consultant for Scruples.

about me

BORN AND RAISED: I am straight out of hell, but I reside in Denver.

PERSONAL STYLE: I dress a bit like the band AC/DC (or my psychotic, fashion-y version thereof).

CELEB I WOULD LIKE TO MAKEOVER: Nancy Grace, although her hair is only the beginning.

FAVORITE ITEM IN WARDROBE: Tom Ford for Gucci motorcross jacket in butterscotch leather.

FAVORITE TOOL: Give me a teasing comb, and some strong hairspray, and I can stir some serious trouble.

MY FAVORITE DAY INVOLVES: Chardonnay and Neiman Marcus.

MY MENTORS: Horst Rechelbacher, Ray Civello, David Raccuglia, Robert Lobetta.

THE BEST THING ABOUT MY JOB: I love the variety my career affords me: shows, shoots, clients, teaching, consulting—it’s quite intoxicating.

IF I HADN’T BECOME A HAIRDRESSER I WOULD HAVE: I fantasize about being a prolific and provocative avant garde architect, visual artist or controversial movie director.

MOST PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO LEARN: I am nice.

I BECAME A HAIRDRESSER BECAUSE: I love doing hair more than I love my first Prada backpack—and that’s a big deal!
