Sarajane Maples, winner of Pravana’s Show Us Your Vivids color challenge, collaborated with artists Erica Keelen and Daryna Barykina to create their vision for the future of Pravana Vivids.
They predict a move toward more harmonious blends.
“We’ve been trying to show that Vivid color doesn’t have to mean root-to-end bleach,” Maples says. “You can incorporate rainbow shades within the hair color, and blend natural warm and cool tones. This is where fashion colors are going.”
As she did with her winning entry, Maples custom-colored long extensions to create these high-impact, avant-garde looks both wearable and sophisticated. She used a square color scheme, taking two or more complementary colors and choosing one or two contrasting colors to create color harmony on hair extensions, and to make those colors pop.
As colleagues and friends, Maples, Keelen and Barykina have previously collaborated on shoots and Pravana gave them the go-ahead to bring their concept to life.
“We did a strong wardrobe and very soft, dewy skin so the focus was on the hair,” Maples says. “Each look is styled with billowy curls to create a cohesive collection.”
