Salon Professionals Coming to Chicago for New Product, Fashion & Service Education
In a year-end online survey of salon professionals nationwide*, respondents overwhelmingly told Cosmetologists Chicago® (CC), the owners and producers of America’s Beauty Show® (ABS), March 28 - 30, 2009 at McCormick Place West, Chicago, that they will attend the event and for a variety of reasons.
Why Are They Coming To ABS-Chicago?
61.1% of respondents plan to attend ABS to find out what’s new in fashion and styles;
44.1% plan to attend to find new products;
42.0% plan to attend to get good deals on the products they use in the salon;
40.8% will be there because “I always go to that show.”
How’s Business?
When asked how their salon businesses are weathering the general economic downturn, 59% of respondents said their 2008 revenue was the same or better than 2007 numbers. While only a small number of respondents said clients are spending more money in the salon than usual (4.8%), fully 58% of respondents reported that clients are coming to the salon regularly, as they always have. Also on the plus side, 41.2% noted that clients are buying retail beauty products at the salon and 48.5% are asking for a new look and new products to maintain that look.
What Do They Want to See at ABS?
When they arrive at America’s Beauty Show, survey respondents want to learn how to improve and grow their businesses. New salon services ranked highest at 67% of respondents; followed by new styling appliances, (56.1%); hair color products (55.9%); hair cutting tools (54.6%) and hair care wet lines (35.9%).
Who Do They Want to See at ABS?
49.0% of respondents said they wanted to learn from other successful hair stylists. America’s Beauty Show offers peer-to-peer learning in the more than 100 workshops, classes, exhibitor platform artists and special events planned.
