Quyenie Nguyen, (@HQsalondenver), of HQ Salon, Denver, Colorado says that "Everyday is a challenge! You just never know what you're going to get. But I'm thankful for the hard ones, because of it, I'm better everyday. I love making everyone feel good and look better!" For this client there was a gentle challenge. "Her last ombre was 10 months ago with me and her roots are obviously overdue. She wanted her hair lighter for the summer, and since it was virgin, I just lifted it with color to give a warm glow to her Asian skin." Here Nguyen shares the HOW TO:

Step 1: Section the hair into 5 parts. Beginning in the back, take 1/2 inch sections and apply to the teased roots: Paul Mitchell  6N with 30 volume.

Step 2: Lighten the ends with Blacklight by Oligo Professionnel blended with 50 volume with Olaplex on her darker hair leaving the blonde ends out.

Step 3: Babylight every other section. Do this throughout the hair with more babylights on the top of the crown toward the face frame.

Step 4: Process for 30 minutes. Once the dark hair in the foils lightens to a yellow, go back through all the foils and apply 30 volume lightener with Olaplex on the rest of the untouched blonde areas. Process for 45 minutes. Rinse, shampoo, condition.

Step 5: Tone with Paul Mitchell UTA 5 volume for 20 minutes. Condition and style.
