"This lovely lady found me on Instagram," says Sami Schneider (@samihairmagic) of House of Color, Colorado Springs, CO. "This was the second time I colored her hair. The first time we kept the natural root and added a blue balayage. FOUR MONTHS later she was ready for a change. She wanted to go full mermaid with a purple root. We talked ideas and decided on a purple root with different blues to create a smokey effect."
Here Schneider shares the details for this beautiful mermaid refresh:
Step 1: CONSULTATION! "It is very important to have a consultation before a color service. It's also a great time to take a before picture."
Step 2: Ligthen the regrowth with Joico Creme Lightener and 20 volume developer. Process for 15 minutes lifting to a level 9/10. Rinse and blow dry.
Step 3: Apply colors, all Joico:
-root shade: amethyst & indigo (1:1)
- lengths, balayage with custom blue shades: Mermaid blue diluted with clear (1:2) , cobalt blue diluted with clear (2inches of clear) , sapphire & titanium diluted with clear (1:2:1)
-ends: sapphire and titanium (1:1)
Step 4: Process for 25 minutes and shampoo. Blow dry using Joico K PAK Restoring Oil and Kenra Blow Dry Spray. Curl the hair using a Paul Mitchell Smoothing Iron using Joico Thermal Protectant and Hairspray!
