STMNT Grooming Expands into Shave Care
STMNT Grooming Goods is expanding into the shave care category with three new additions to its lineup.
Patrick Melville chats about why stylists should perm extensions for their curly haired clients.

MODERN was invited to stop by a recent Zotos Professional photoshoot for the new packaging and support materials for the new perm TEXTURE EFX. Celebrity hairdresser Patrick Melville was putting the finishing touches on his model. Piled up on his station were pre-permed wefts that Melvilled used to add some ooomph to the look.
"This is such a great idea for all salons," says Melville. "Pre curled extensions are available, but they rarely match the clients curl exactly. This is just one more service to offer the client...giving totally personalized service." Melville acknowledges that even the word perm is dated. "When people think of perms they think of the past, but the market has changed a lot. Now we customize to blend in with the clients hair to add fullness or glamour."
Melville says it's important to select the proper perm for the weft. "I love the Texture EFX by Zotos Professional. It's innovative...not so aggressive. Clients today are quite aware of what they are putting on their hair. This is a bit more green."
This video offers Melville's overview of his perm approach where gives these tips to stylists thinking about offering the service to their clients:
-Wefts must be human hair.
- You must use high quality hair.
-It's best to sew in a clip so client has options to pin in and out (rather than bonding).
-It's important to teach the client how to care for the weft, including how to keep clean.
