The Fall 2016 BCL|CND|Tippi Hedren Nail Scholarship competition is accepting applications through August 15, 2016. Five students enrolled in a professional nail education program at a qualified school will each receive a $2,500 tuition scholarship toward their education. This competition marks the sixth installment of the scholarship initiative CND funded in 2013.
The BCL|CND|Tippi Hedren Nail Scholarship Fund celebrates the rewarding career opportunities available in the professional nail industry, and the legacy of actress and humanitarian Tippi Hedren. Widely recognized as the godmother of the Vietnamese-American nail industry, Hedren helped thousands of displaced refugees find careers in the professional nail industry following the Vietnam War.
A judging panel comprised of nail artists and brand leaders will review video applications and essays answering the questions: “Why are you pursuing a career in the nail industry?” and “How would receiving a professional nail scholarship change/fulfill your life?”
Applicants will also submit an inspiration board showing their passion/inspiration for the industry. Winning a BCL|CND scholarship has accelerated the careers of many aspiring nail professionals, including Sarah Waite, a 2015 BCL winner whose work has appeared in several leading trade publications, Oxygen’s “Nail’d It” series and even on the Today show
“CND has shared the vision of Beauty Changes Lives since its inception and we’re humbled by the generosity and leadership CND has committed to support next generation talent,” said Beauty Changes Lives Foundation President Lynelle Lynch.
CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold is a founding board member of the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation. “From nail industry pioneers like Tippi Hedren to today’s iconic nail artists such as Fleury Rose, we are inspired but not surprised by the industry’s selfless commitment to help improve the lives of others through the gift of education,” said Arnold.
