For a long-lasting fix, Summer Vindedahl fills first, then creates a new base with deep-chocolate, used in a low-volume developer, damage-minimizing formula. When the fine-haired client wants to grow her locks, long layers and point-cutting (to eliminate obvious lines) are the best bet.
Formulas used:
1. Filler: Redken Shades EQ 1-oz. O9AA, 1-oz. O6NB, ½-oz. clear with 2½-oz. developer
2. Base: Redken Color Gels 1-oz. 6N, 1-oz. 5N with equal parts 10-volume peroxide
3. Glosser: 1-oz. Redken Crystal Clear with equal parts dedicated processing solution.
Steps to success:
1. Apply the filler from roots to ends. Cover the hair in a plastic cap, and place the client under heat for 10 minutes. Rinse and dry the hair.
2. Apply the new base formula from roots to ends, then process for 30 minutes. Shampoo and towel dry.
3. Apply the glosser all over, cover the hair in a plastic cap and process under heat for 10 minutes. Allow to cool for 5-minutes before shampooing.
