MODERN Facebook fan Najah Aziz, owner and stylist at Like the River The Salon in Atlanta, Georgia, created these beautiful pin curls and posted this image on our Facebook wall--once we saw it, we KNEW we had to track down the how to.
To begin, the hair is shampooed and molded in a finger wave pattern with foam and then the hair is wrapped in strips.
Place the client under the dryer until completely dry. "Our favorite oil is Madinah Oil, a grapeseed-base with other essential oils," Aziz says. Massage the oil all over the hair to the ends. "The oil makes the hair moveable while pin curling and waving."
A 1/2-inch flatiron is used--Aziz prefers the HAI Twig.
The sides and back: At 400 degrees, the curls are curled on base and then dragged in a sliding motion with fingers or with the iron before releasing the curl.
The top: Take about 1/4-inch sections and curl hair in a circular motion then place into pin curl. The hair is slightly finger combed through the sides and back. Only spray the top with a spritz.
