Damage from heat styling is a concern for everyone, though it effects different hair types in different ways. When moisture is stripped from hair due to overdrying, it prevents styles from lasting. For instance, if hair was blowdried straight and moisture was removed due to high temperatures, then when moisture from the air reenters the hair shaft, texture will return to the hair and the efforts put into straightening the hair will be lost. Likewise, if straight hair is blowdried with a round brush to build volume or make ends curl under, but moisture was stripped, then when it is exposed to moisture in the air it will fall flat.
This type of damage and ineffective styling can be avoided by using professional blowdryers that have more advanced heat and airflow options and can be turned to different settings depending on the hair type being styled.

The 8th Sense dryer from Elchim was created by the Milanese manufacturer to cater to what it defines as the eight types of hair based on physical measurements of the curvature of hair. The dryer modulates temperature and air speeds to vary between powerful and sensitive drying, therefore being useful for a range of hair types, textures and styles.
“So far traditional hairdryers have always had two speeds and three temperatures, but the obtainable combinations do not give good results on all kinds of hair,” says Elchim CEO Luca Sabbatini. “Differences are often minimal, which does not allow personalized styling and drying.”
Sabbatini describes the 8th Sense dryer as a tool that can be used on thick hair, thinning hair, ethnic hair and the fine hair of a child. Plus, the wide range of temperature and speed options allow 8th Sense to be used as a styler, capable of creating different wavy styles or building texture.
Additionally, the rear filter reduces the accumulation of dust and prevents hair from entering the dryer, protecting the motor and preventing overheating.
