The Doves held their second Glam Barbie Competition at their salon, in which their salon team members each style a Barbie doll and this year Hairdreams was incorporated into each design. The results would make Ken’s head spin. These Barbies sport mermaid tails, brandish whips, rock stilettos and, of course, have incredible hair.

Originally, a bunch of Barbies had been posed among the product displays in the windows of The Doves Santa Monica, CA salon. But when the window-dressing design changed, Christopher Dove found another way to put Barbie to work.
“Last year, I didn’t want to get rid of them, so we came up with this contest,” said Christopher Dove. “It has been so much fun and everyone takes it very seriously. The results are amazing.”
Salon clients and others may vote on their favorites and this year, the Barbies will be auctioned off with all the proceeds going to The American Red Cross and Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
“Even though the Barbies are displayed without any names attached and you have no idea who did which doll, our clients have been able to guess just by the designs,” said Sonya Dove. “It showed us how well our stylist and clients have come to know each other.”
Hairdreams extensions were used not just on Barbie’s head but a cape was made of Hairdreams on one doll, a cummerbund on another. Elegant updos, lush side pony tails and colored accents were all compliments of Hairdreams while the dazzling designs were all from the impressive imagination of The Doves and their team.

Votes will automatically be entered to win a $2,000 Hairdreams hair extension service at The Doves Studio Santa Monica and stylists who vote have a chance to win a Hairdreams Quikkies start-up kit. All Barbies will be auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going to The American Red Cross.
