Without bikini waxes, soothing after-sun body wraps and cellulite treatments, your summer sales might be in a slump. But going that extra mile with fun extras will keep your clients' dollars coming back even as the temperature falls.

Quick Quenchers: As the weather turns cool and dry, exposed skin can become rough and tough. To soothe and seal in moisture during hand or foot treatments, try this trick from As U Wish Nail Spa in Hoboken, New Jersey: Rather than soaking in plain water, which can irritate dry skin, encase your client's hands or feet in plastic bags or mitts filled with warm and richly scented cream. If a service requires a footbath, add essential oils and citrus slices to achieve a similar effect. Skin will be hydrated and smelling great.

Spa Sample: Treat your clients well and they'll be good to you, says John DiJulius, president of John Robert's Spas in Ohio. "People only crave what they have previously experienced and enjoyed," he says. "We strive to make that happen. For example, if a client has booked an express service, which is a shorter version of a massage or a facial, and someone cancels an appointment, we'll treat that express client to the full service." You can bet that it won't be forgotten when it comes time to book her next appointment.

Celebrate Clients: At Studio 207 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, owner Kristie Strunk-Bogush takes advantage of slow afternoons by booking Glamour Parties for pre-teens celebrating a birthday. They each get mini manicures and pedicures, as well as a make-up application. "The bookings are for two hours and we take up to 10 kids," she says, adding that two techs are usually sufficient. Create your own kid-friendly services and price the parties at either a flat or per-child rate: "You'll find lots of new clients in the moms who drop off the kids and pick them up." Add a goody bag with free samples and your parties will be the talk of the town.

In Dubai, Clients Visit the Salon Every Week. Here’s What That Market Can Teach You

In Dubai, a salon visit isn’t an appointment. It’s a weekly routine, and clients can spend $800 to $1,400 a month on it, according to Gaurav Tripathi of MADI International. On October 6-8, 2026, the market behind those numbers opens its doors as Beautyworld Dubai marks its 30th edition at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together distributors, brands, stylists and salon owners from all over the world.
