Sothys’ trademarked Vegetal Moisturizing Activator is derived from three plants—cherry trees, angelica and hawthorn—combined with glycerin also obtained from plants. The VMA complex works by reinforcing the barrier function of the skin by maintaining hydration of the stratum corneum. Tests have shown that skin is 34 percent more hydrated three hours after application, and 27 percent more hydrated eight hours after application. All of the extracts are BIO (Organic) Certified by ECOCERT.
angelica
This biennial plant can reach a height of almost seven feet. It has a large, fleshy root and greenish-yellow flowers that appear in July and August. Extract of angelica is obtained from the roots. Angelica contains predominately polyphenols, tannins, flavenoids and an essential oil. The extract helps limit the appearance of the first signs of aging and bacteria products, and relaxes the epidermis.
hawthorn
Hawthorn is a shrub that blossoms in spring, with white and highly aromatic flowers. The essence of hawthorn, obtained from the flowers, contains polyphenols, flavenoids and phenolic acids. The antioxidant extract helps alleviate stress.
helianthus (organic sunflower) oil
Sunflower oil contains essential fatty acids, especially Omega-6 and Omega-9, which restore the youth and elasticity of the skin, and combat skin dehydration and aging. It hydrates the skin by reducing transepidermal water loss and restores lipids by reconstituting the fatty acid balance.
organic cherry buds
Studies have shown that actives can be higher in bud extracts than in typical plant extracts, so this extract is obtained by cryoextraction from the buds of the cherry tree. Plant buds contain all the nutritive substances that ensure the growth of the plant, and can combine the specific activities of different parts of the adult plant, including the flowers, leaves and bark.
essential oil of rosemary
The product’s fragrance can be attributed to essential oil of rosemary, which is recognized as a tonic and stimulant, and aids in cell revitalization. It also has anti-wrinkle properties.
