Sport Clips and VFW Announce Scholarship Program

Sport Clips is expanding its Help a Hero campaign by joining the VFW to raise funds for scholarships for veterans.

Sport Clips has been a major supporter of programs that help military personnel since it launched its Help a Hero campaign to raise money for Operation Uplink in 2007. Operation Uplink is the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ (VFW) program to provide free phone calls home to people serving overseas.

This year, Sport Clips is expanding its Help a Hero campaign by joining the VFW to raise funds for scholarships enabling veterans to complete their education during or after military service.

The VFW’s Sport Clips Help a Hero Scholarship will award scholarships of up to $5,000 to qualifying veterans allowing them to further their education without incurring student loan debt.

Applications for the 2014 calendar year are being accepted and will be awarded beginning January 1, 2014. The scholarships must be used by the end of the school year for which the individual is applying and will be paid directly to the school.

Sport Clips’ Help a Hero Scholarship fund raising campaign will run from October 14, through Veterans Day November 11 with $1 from every hair cut being donated to the new program. To learn more about the Help a Hero program, visit sportclips.com.
