With Halloween fast approaching, we’re sure some Stranger Things looks are going to have a big place among this year’s costume trends. After all, the Netflix staple is one of the most popular TV shows of all time, and the release of the fourth season this past summer was a huge event for Stranger Things fans everywhere.

Not everyone will be ready to commit to a perm like Nancy, Eddie and Karen. Fortunately, you can get the iconic look with the help of Emmy-nominated stylist and Hair Co-department Head on the set of Stranger Things, Katrina Suhre (@katsuhre).

“My favorite people to style on Stranger Things this season is the mother-daughter duo of Nancy and Karen Wheeler,” says Suhre. “As Nancy finishes her senior year, we continued to let her look evolve, and Natalia Dyer can pull off both the polished Nancy that starts the season and the distressed but totally badass heroine who always steps up when the going gets rough. In our own head canon, the Wheeler women definitely get their perms done together at the local Hawkins salon.”

If your clients need a way to get the look temporarily for the spooky season, here are Suhre’s tips for achieving an 80s perm style—without the perm!

Another fun method Suhre recommends: “My hot tip is to rough dry hair that isn’t naturally curly using the All About Curls Boosting Foam and a little bit of High or Soft Definition Gel,” she adds. “From there, you can use the ½-inch iron or even some hot sticks (super pro tip there) and finish with the Soft or High Definition Gel for a scrunch while you flip your hair over for maximum volume and definition.”

This style should last your clients a few days. Perfect for some Halloween party prep!
