Lakme USA was the exclusive backstage hair sponsor for stylist Eddie Wunderlich and his team during New York Fashion Week. Lakme featured its newest collection the Finishing Line, a vegan, sustainable and organic hair care brand. The team used Lakme USA’s Finishing Line backstage at two fashion shows, including Raul Penaranda and The Collaborative featuring Cesar Galindo and Megan Mitton.

The Raul Penaranda show was held at Printers Alley in the heart of Times Square. His collection, dedicated to his beautiful mom who passed away last November, is inspired by the power of “FORWARD”and is elegant and sophisticated.

“Lakme USA’s products’ versatility and light weight allowed the team to achieve the polished, gorgeous chignons that Raul Penaranda desired,” explained Eddie Wunderlich.

The Collaborative, which took place at Cucina 8 ½ in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, featured innovative designers Cesar Galindo and Megan Mitton. Galindo’s collection is inspired by the “snowbird” lifestyle: bright colors, statement prints and layered glitz. Mitton’s collection is inspired by her two late grandmothers. Using a combination of deep rich silks and bold sheet florals, this collection holds a symmetry of strength and beauty. Their sustainability mantra and repurposing of materials to lower their carbon blueprint, every step of the way are some of the main reasons Lakme and Wunderlich enjoyed working with these designers.

“Working with Lakme USA for NYFW24 for Raul Penaranda, Cesar Galindo and Megan Mitton was absolutely fabulous," says Wunderlich. "Three completely different styles complimenting each other with a focus on sustainability was a match made in fashion heaven.”

Lead Hair Stylist Joseph DiMaggio and the Shokunin Clik education team used Lakme USA’s Finishing Line backstage at the Kim Shui and Naeem Khan high-fashion shows. The Lakme USA team and Joseph DiMaggio have crossed paths several times in the industry and were excited to work together for the first time.

The Naeem Khan Show, held in the atrium at 28 Liberty St in Manhattan, consisted of elegant pieces that were Hollywood-worthy with a youthful vibe. DiMaggio created a hair look to match the architectural structure of the collection while incorporating a timeless feel.

“When working with a new styling line, I always appreciate when the products are formulated to be lightweight," says DiMaggio. "This allows me and my team to use the products with ease backstage. Knowing they can and should be layered to create our looks for the runway, gives us the freedom to use the products generously and without hesitation. The new Lakme styling range was a pleasure to work with the more and more we used it because of this. Definitely backstage approved.”

As the year of the dragon begins, AW24 pays homage to the strength and resilience of this auspicious mythical creature. The intense color palette plays into Kazuo Shiraga’s Gutai action paintings. Fiery reds, liquid blues, and flashes of acid green appear as part of the colors' elemental energy. Corset detailing on vegan leather jackets giving added layers of armor, and emboldened padded shoulders arise under delicate silks and vegan fur.

“We were so excited to see our brand perform on fashion's biggest stage in the hands of the industry’s best artists,” says Lou DiDomenico, National Sales Manager for Lakme.
