On April 13, 2015, a team of Paul Mitchell stylists led by Emmy-nominated hairdresser Noogie Thai, joined fashion designers Brian Wolk and Claude Morais for the debut of WOLK MORAIS, a new label designed, sourced and manufactured in Los Angeles and drawing inspiration from the city's colorful tradition. The show took place at Kohn Gallery in Hollywood, CA.
Hair was cool-girl casual and 1970's sleek and straight. With a pop art palette, the fashion was complemented by hairstyles sometimes accented with handmade Dinosaur headbands (a tribute to the La Brea Tar Pits? or maybe to "The Flinstones"?) and wide-brimmed Spanish torreador hats with pom-poms. The young models wore a 1970s footwear staple reimagined, the Dr. Scholl's sandal, presented in patent leather. The overall effect was youthful, optimistic, feminine without being fussy and completely engaging.
Hairdresser Anthony Martinez from Robert Cromeans Salon was the Paul Mitchell stylist working with the designers at the hair and makeup test, a few days prior to the runway show.
"We love to involve our artists in these events, "said Paul Mitchell PR Manager Lindsey Provost. "It's a great experience for them to be backstage at these shows and we love these collaborations, where we all come together to create a beautiful finish."
