The Wella Studio LA has been opening its doors to showcase the work being done at their seminars, classes and by their Signature Studio Artists and Design Team Members. At two recent events, it was standing room only.
On June 25, 2015, an invited audience heard from P&G Salon Professional Global Education Academy Dean. Stephen Moody and Color Expert Victoria Thurman Hall. They sent some harmonious cuts and color down the runway and discussed their class, Holistic Color, Cut and Finish, a hands-on seminar that will share a total service approach and will conclude with a photo shoot.
“The goal,” Moody said,” is to flex your creative muscles, to offer a fresh new approach and to increase your average ticket.”
Another comprehensive color class is Couture Color, an interactive session to help hairdressers develop an expert color consultation and diagnosis, how to understand the trends and how to discover the color techniques best for each client. “This class answers the question, how am I going to make more money tomorrow?” Wella Education Artistic Manager Diego Raviglione says. “It really speaks about the business part of our industry. It’s about raising the salon culture and professionalism of the salon.”
Groundwork, a class offered to help hairdressers prepare to enter the Sebastian What’s Next Awards, was represented by Anthony Cress who said that entering photo competitions has no downside. “We grow through competition,” Cress says. “Every time you put yourself out there, you come back better than you started.” The class will be held November 1-2, 2015.
On July 30, 2015, the debut of the new Sebastian Collection, Metamorphik was revealed in connection with the launch of two new styling tools from Sebastian, Eruptek, a creamy paste made with volcanic ash for "expolisve texture and expansive volume" and Resintek, a liquid was that shapes and defines. Both products will work to achieve trending styles in barbering, in the short styles for women and in the trend towards androgynous styles.
Metamorphik for Fall/Winter 2015 features contrast between organic and structural shapes, shine versus matte and challenges hairdressers to create new shapes with the new tools on offer.
Sebastian artists and educators Marylle Koken and Frank Andrade were onstage to demonstrate a few of the nine Sebastian cutting techniques and to talk about Sebastian Gallery Jam, a two day intensive seminar that focuses on versatile styles of scissor and razor cutting.
