In a time where everyone wants balayage, foils are not dead! In fact they provide the heat conduction that is sometimes necessary to achieve the color you are looking for. Carli Ambrose (@lowlightsandleopard), Goldwell educator, Unicorn Tribe Member and artist at the Jonathan Williams Salon and Spa Provincetown, MA, shares the details for this makeover:
Step 1: Take traditional foil sections but adjust application technique to create a more "lived in" look by not bringing the lightener all the way to the root. Brush is placed vertically to create a softer line. Apply Goldwell Oxycur Platin and 20 volume developer.
Step 2: In between foils utilize a back combing technique before applying Goldwell OP and 40 volume. Apply using the back of the hand to paint on color.
Step 3: Process for 20-30 minutes then shampoo and lightly condition with Goldwell Dual Senses for Blonde and Highlighted Hair.
Step 4: Towel dry then apply Elumen Clear for Extreme Shine and Condition. Process 30 minutes and then shampoo and condition.
