CND offered the perfect accent for The Blonds fall/winter 2017 collection shown last night during NYFW.  26 precious nail styles were created for the runway. Crafted with diamond-like precision, the nails featured moonlit colors and hypnotic effects representative of a woman’s talisman.

“The Blonds are true creative partners,” said CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “Our artistic spirits have always been intertwined, and this season elevated that synergy to a new level. Similar to their latest collection, CND’s Fall 2017 trend story is rooted in mercurial hues for spellbinding beauty with a dark and seductive edge.”

The Avant-garde statement pieces seamlessly reflected the metamorphosis of The Blonds’ inspiration – an ancient princess who transforms from an innocent young woman into a malevolent force awakened in modern times. Medium in length and dagger shaped, the nails were framed in liquid mercury with magnifying spines to illuminate dimension and reflect a woman’s power in that moment. CND’s renowned artists used their own form of nail alchemy to create unique finishes and textures, from lapis lazuli to quartz, dimensional python, geodes and mineral artifacts. Using VINYLUX™ Weekly Polish, SHELLAC™ Brand 14+ Day Nail Color and sculpting materials, the team spent over 300 combined hours producing the mesmerizing looks.

“We’ve created some of our most extraordinary masterpieces for The Blonds over the years,” said creative lead Shelena Robinson. “This season, we challenged ourselves to push the boundaries of our artistry with new innovative thinking, and we did it with love. It was all about sophistication and refinement for us this time around.”

“CND is simply incredible,” said The Blonds Creative Director David Blond. “The nails are always the last touch of glamour to finalize the look.”

“For this show, we actually decided to forego jewelry on the wrists and hands altogether because we really wanted the nails to serve that key purpose,” added designer Phillipe Blond. “And we knew CND would deliver like none other!”

Maggie Mulhern | February 14, 2017

Lead Nail Artist Jessica Tong used Smith & Cult to create the nail look for the A Détacher F/W 2017 collection. “The A Détacher woman is the downtown New York woman. She’s street smart, aggressive and fashionable. I designed this look with the founder to reflect those characteristics in a modern, experimental way,” says Tong of the nail look. Nailed Lacquer in Dark Like Me and Lovers Creep were used to create the daring look.
