Modern intern (and recent beauty school graduate) Amanda Smith was chatting with stylist Shawnee Seeley while at a photo shoot today at the Arrojo studio in NYC. "I couldn't believe it," says Amanda. "She lived in a rural area of Ohio and just picked up and moved to New York. How gutsy. I would love to move to LA, but I wouldn't even know how to go about it."

I handed the microphone to Amanda and asked her to get more details from Shawnee. In addition to the information offered in the interview, Shawnee points out that its important that anyone interested in relocating really must do his or her homework and find a salon that offers education. "Not only will you get advanced education, but its a great way to meet clients," she says.

Instead of just packing up and hoping for the best, Shawnee suggests "It's best to have a job already lined up. I first met the Arrojo team when I attended a trade show. I then contacted them and went through an interview process. That was three years ago. I've moved to NY and have since had wonderful opportunities and experiences...photo shoots, fashion week and so much more. It's great to pursue your dream."
