The royal wedding has got us thinking about other high-profile weddings, like those in Hollywood in recent years. You can't escape most celebrity wedding coverage, with their photos splashed all over the covers of magazines and broadcast on TV shows. So it's no wonder celebrity wedding-day hairstyles are often the inspiration for client requests! We've pulled images of celebrities in the gallery below so any salon professional can use them to review and discuss with clients. But not all of these hairstyles hit the mark, at least in our eyes.

The star brides, wearing everything from a classic updo to a long and loose style, and even a more offbeat heavy fringe, all stayed true to their own style. But still, we had our favorites-and our not-so-favorites. (Hint: Avoid anything that resembles Barbie, and remind clients to bring a mirror and hairspray for touch-ups!)

The Do's and Don'ts of Bridal Hair

Gwen Stefani played it classic at her 2002 nuptials to rocker Gavin Rossdale. Her traditional upswept 'do was a surprising but welcome change from her usual punk style.

Heidi Montag's bleached-blonde hair and big curls at her 2009 wedding to reality co-star Spencer Pratt didn't float our boats-it was a bit more Barbie than bridal.

Katie Holmes's fairy-tale 2006 wedding to superstar Tom Cruise was elegant in every way, but we wish someone could have fixed the loose tendrils and baby wisps before this photo was taken.

The Do's and Don'ts of Bridal Hair

Liv Tyler's heavy fringe with her simple pulled-back style made a statement at her 2003 reception to rocker Royston Langdon. We love that she made this casual look so sophisticated.

The Do's and Don'ts of Bridal Hair

Nicole Kidman looked soft and sweet at her 2006 wedding to country crooner Keith Urban. Her strawberry blonde curls, pinned back with a flower, is a classic can't-go-wrong wedding day look.

The Do's and Don'ts of Bridal Hair

Tori Spelling was a traditional bride at her 2004 wedding to first husband Charlie Shanian. Her side part and jeweled hair clips are classic all the way-and though the marriage didn't last, this look lives on as one of our favorite wedding day styles yet.
