Nail Trends at Fashion Week

Nails played a high profile role at New York Fashion Week with new trends popping up on every runway. "We saw a lot of unusually colorful and bright collections for fall—oranges, reds, greens and blues," says Essie Weingarten. "So as a result, we are seeing a lot of neutral nails that are made bold through interesting textures."

Trend 1: Opaque Nudes
Models at Derek Lam and Rachel Roy sported milky, opaque nudes and a hint of pink was added to these creamy tones at BCBG and Vera Wag. The look was also very popular at the Essie Pop-Up salon at Fashion Week, where Sand Tropez was an intensely requested hue.

Trend 2: Gray
This color took center stage at Narciso Rodriguez, where models sported a fresh shimmering slate gray. Gray was also shown at Nicole Miller, who opted for matte, and Luca Luca, where gray was a tempered with yet more nude tones.

Trend 3: Black
Black was one of the most requested nail shades among fashionistas roaming around Essie's mini manicure area inside Lincoln Center. Dark nails were seen on some runways as well—models at DKNY sported a near black navy for an edgy, rocker-chick look.

These results were from the Fashion Week Nail Report by Essie Weingarten.
