Color Zoom Judging Process

The US semi-finalists for the 2011 Color Zoom Challenge
were announced moments ago and we just had to pass the information along!

This year, more than 244 entries were received in the three Color Zoom Challenge categories: Creative Colorist, Partner Colorist and New Talent.

I had the honor of being on the judging panel which included Emmy-Nominated Celebrity Stylist—Rachael Dowling, A-List New York Star and Celebrity Stylist—Ryan Nickulas, President of Carlton Hair International—James O’Reagan and Goldwell North American Guest Artists—John Simpson and Timothy Switzer.

The judging process was quite intense. After a briefing from John Moroney, KPSS VP of Education and Timothy Switzer, owner of Timothy and Co. Salon and Spa of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada and 2009 Color Challenge winner, the judges were sent to rooms where the entries were on display. The new judging system, designed by Moroney, made the process seamless.

I must say, there was not a “clunker” in the bunch. Just about every entry had flawless color…both in taste and presentation. There may have been a few questionable finishes in the style end, but for the most part, these Goldwell artists know what they are doing. The entries were quite impressive and the full day process was challenging but quite enjoyable.
