Last week I was out in LA doing the most amazing photo shoot (with Luis Alvarez for an upcoming issue…wait till you see the results!).  While there I received a wonderful invitation from Tweezerman to get a brow re-shaping and learn more about their new line of animal print tweezers.

How cool, I thought.  It's been a while since I've had a good "tweeze."  Caren Elle, an LA based make up artist, attacked my brows as if they hadn't been "addressed" in ten years.  Ummmm….that would be about right.  She spent a good 25 minutes on each brow.  Plucking/shaping/ouching. This is quite interesting considering I am very "blondie" north of the eyeball and I have very little hair in that department.

Nonetheless, it was an exciting event for me.  I viewed and learned all about the new and classic Tweezerman tools which include a vast selection of tweezers (duh) and assorted manicure, pedicure and grooming tools.  There are actually 118 items in the line including brow kits with shapers and soothers, eyelash curlers, callus shavers, sharpeners and shaving brushes.  There are scissors, clippers, nippers and trimmers.  Tool heaven.

Even more interesting to me was learning how the whole Tweezerman thing started.  It was 1980.   Dal LaMagna, a young entrepreneur, got a nasty splinter.  In his tush.   His basic tweezer, a classic shapeless job, wouldn't do the trick.  He got out some devices to re-tool and re-fine the blunt end to get a sharper edge.  The splinter almost popped out on its own in fear.  A star was born.  A tweezer star. It became the classic stainless steel Slant Tweezer.  LaMagna started selling his new product to lumber yards and hardware stores, but then realized it was a perfect grooming tool.  He went door to door in his NY neighborhood offering his invention.   Everyone bought.   He became "the tweezerman" to his groupies and the star, its inventor and a company, took off.  It's the classic boy gets splinter and makes good story.  This is what America is all about.

Now owned and run by the German owned Zwilling J. A. Henckels Corp, the 275 year old company specializing in cutlery, the Tweezerman products and tools can be found in 1000's of salons, spas, doctors offices in the US and around the world.  (go to  www.tweezerman.com for more info)

I walked out of the Four Seasons Hotel slightly red around the brow, but looking100% better.   I swear, people were staring at me!  Was it my new brow, or was it the fact that miss Lindsay Lohan was right behind me?  Whatever.  It was a great experience.  I was tweezed with a "leopard" device and lived to tell about it.
