click image to zoom The use of hair extensions is a “growing” trend and since they require a time and monetary commitment, those who have extensions will want to keep them looking their best for as long as possible. SHE by SO.CAP.USA offered MODERN the following maintenance tips from their top stylists. Here are some recommendations that you can make for your clients that will help ensure their extensions stay looking salon fresh.

TIP 1: Though your clients probably have a shower at home full of hair products, make sure they only use products that have been recommended and approved by you, the stylist, to use on their extensions.

TIP 2: While a head scrub while shampooing might feel good, gentleness is best with extensions, so advise them to avoid excessive scrubbing.

TIP 3: Recommend that they dry their hair thoroughly and comb with a wide tooth comb or pick gently from ends to scalp. (This will help avoid tangling.)

TIP 4: If they want to change their hair even further by coloring, try offering highlights or lowlights with extensions.

TIP 5: Extensions are human hair, so overall; advise them to treat them as they would their natural hair. If they go swimming, advise them to wash out the chlorine with a proper after care shampoo and conditioner.
