Daniela Ciocan, Director of Marketing for Cosmoprof North America weighs in on this year’s event in Las Vegas July 19-21.
MODERN SALON: What’s new at Cosmoprof North America this year?
Daniela Ciocan: In terms of education, the big focus will be on the internet. It’s playing a huge role in our industry in retail, information and educating the consumer. For retail, we’ll have a special section dedicated to online retailing—we have a speaker from Beauty Collection (a retail store similar to Ulta). They have several locations in L.A. and went online after the realization of location vs. internet e-commerce. People will be able to learn from their experience.
MS: Who are some of the speakers attendees should look for?
DC: We have a representative from Google who will be speaking about marketing on the internet and how to gain visibility and top rankings in search engines. We’ll also have a panel of top beauty bloggers who will discuss how you can make an impact with bloggers and promote efficiently. And there will be a panel dedicated to private label retail. These are just some of the speakers and panels.
MS: What is Cosmoprof offering spa professionals?
DC: We’re doing spa tours of major spas in Las Vegas. Visitors will go behind the scenes and see what goes into the operations of these mega spas. We also have a panel on Monday—“Spa Market: How to Thrive in a Challenging Economy.” The president of Murad and president of Dermalogica are among the panelists. They’ll talk about what tools are they offering spas to remain competitive.
