When the Farouk Artistic Team got together to create the look featured
on this month's cover, they took inspiration from light.
"We were inspired by how you can use light to expose color,"
says Artistic Director Lisa Marie Garcia. "We call the collection âExposed'
based on how we could expose vibrant color in one style, and then by changing
the direction of the hair, expose another color."
The final result, a champagne blonde with a warm, bold orange shade
streaking through was nothing less than stunning, and the team couldn't have
been happier with the look.
"I think it was a nice combination between the cool tones with the copper-
it gives balance in the color composition," says stylist Leonel Rodriguez.
Stylist Rocky Vitelli agrees: "The final result shows how accent highlight
panels can bring beautiful contrast to a hair style."
This particular color design could definitely be considered avant garde-
a color area that's not always easy to master, but is very fulfilling if you can
achieve the envisioned look.
"Avant garde color placement allows you to express more creativity not
only with color, but the end result in the cut and styling," says Garcia. "Let
your creativity and imagination run wild," agrees Vitelli. "This is the time you
can have lots of fun and push the limit in having your color and style marry
into each other."
So what's next for the Farouk team? Garcia is doing a photo shoot with
the Miss USA organization, of which Farouk is a major sponsor. "We are also
planning a relaunch of our famous Sunglitz line for highlighting," she says.
Vitelli is starting to shoot his entry for the next North American Hairstyling
Awards, while Rodriguez is focusing his efforts on new collections.
