Michael’s Salon & Spa in Centerville, Ohio, reached out to their clients through e-mail and social networks to ask for makeover submissions for their photo shoot, “Looking for Faces.” The shoot featured real women over 40 who were willing to make a major change.

Jodi Schuh-Keeley, added red highlights to her client Digma’s dark brown hair, and then cut it in a versatile style with lots of layers. She can wear her hair straight, flip the ends for a textured look or embrace her natural curl.

To style, Schuh-Keeley used Fortifying Ultra Gel by Aquage. She finger-dried the hair until it was 90 percent dry, then used a round brush to add volume and shape to the ends. Schuh-Keeley then used Matte Putty by Sebastian to shape and hold the look.

Designer Lisa Homer gave her client Andrea a keratin treatment to make her hair smooth and manageable. A few days later, Homer colored Andrea’s hair with four multi-tone colors to complement her skin tone.

For the cut, Homer chose a chin-length bob styled with Moroccanoil followed by Volupt Spray by Sebastian to add body without curl. She used a round brush to blow dry, and then smoothed the ends with a flatiron.
