Each month, you send in waxing questions for our resident hair removal expert, Shala Dveirin. This month she’s discussing brows and sugaring.

Dear Shala,

I use Satin Smooth and love the results but when I do intimate areas I feel like I don't do a clean enough job. What can I do? I know I need help with the position my client is in. I also love to do brows. How do you get the perfect brow shape?

Thanks for your help,

Yolanda

The best thing I can tell you is to take classes. Without knowing what you’re doing and how you’re positioning your client, it’s hard to answer that the best way. But if you take a class, this can help you learn how to position your client. For the second part of your question, there are several factors that go into the perfect brow shape. In the September/October issue of renew, I talk all about brow design and what goes into creating the perfect brow. Check it out, and if you have more questions, send me another e-mail.

Shala

Hi Shala,

Lately I've been asked by clients about sugaring rather than waxing. Is there a benefit to this procedure?  If so, how do I learn this process?

Jeff

I don’t know much about sugaring or if there is a benefit over waxing; I guess I would say it’s an alternative. I’m not at all against sugaring–it’s just a preference, and some people tend to prefer it. One thing I know from people who’ve used it, is that it’s hard to do and there is a learning curve with getting the technique down and how to do it. For more details, I would check out a company called Alexandria Sugaring, which teaches classes and makes the product.
