Lucie Doughty, editorial director for John Paul Mitchell Systems, combines the art and craft of hair styling with the surrealist art of painter Rene Magritte in her latest collection, Head in the Clouds.
Magritte’s paintings created their own realities that questioned the viewer’s general perception of the world. Doughty creates images that are both beautiful and otherworldly.
“The images in the collection are a play on texture communicated through an editorial story of a girl trying to find her way in life,” says Doughty. “I wanted to communicate the story in the feel of Magritte’s artwork, which often illustrates the juxtaposition of everyday objects in unusual contexts.”
The styles are achieved with a variety of John Paul Mitchell Systems hair care, styling and finishing products.
