Intercoiffure America/Canada is a prestigious group of leading North American salons whose members are already established industry leaders. With an eye toward sustaining the organization’s high standards of talent, Intercoiffure Nouveau was created to foster, mentor and recognize the emerging young talent already working in member salons. First Place honors in this year’s Intercoiffure Nouveau Creative Cutting Conest went to Addison Clarke and Anita Hawke who were inspired to create a classic bob using a graduated cut to achieve an asymmetric shape and the illusion of an up style. 1ST PLACE Addison Clarke and Anita Hawke, The David K Space, West Palm Beach. “We are committed to the youth of the industry. They are the future and we want to connect with them,” says Monge. “We want to sustain the future of Intercoiffure and the beauty industry by shaping young talent for future success. This helps the young professionals and also let us have some influence on what the industry will look like in the future.” Second Place Mariluz Rivera, inspired by her love of music, combined all elements—cut, color and make-up—even sewing her own wardrobe. 2ND PLACE Mariluz Rivera, Perry Monge SalonSpa, Phoenix. The first step in this process is the Intercoiffure Nouveau annual Creative Cutting Contest, which includes bold hair color placement to compliment the cut. With sponsorship from an Intercoiffure America/Canada member, entrants submit their work to be judged by a panel of three leading international stylists. Ten finalists are chosen and from that group, the Nouveau Creative Team will be chosen. Third Place Jose Angel Gonzalez was inspired by the reds, oranges and sharp angles of the Grand Canyon after convincing his model to cut and color her long, black hair. 3rd PLACE Jose Angel Gonzalez, Visible Changes, Houston.
