Using Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome, George Papanikolas used several different shades of demi color to achieve subtle variations in tones. "This gives the hair richness and shine that a brunette would have naturally," he says. Papanikolas recently did the same technique on Nicole Richie.
Our model, like Nicole Richie, started off as a buttery blonde.
Begin with the filler. Using Vero Chrome color,
totally saturate the blonde hair in ½-inch
sections using ½ oz G6 and ½ oz G8
(a golden copper) with a shot of RO with
dedicated developer.
Filler is applied to the blonde pieces only. Process for 10–15 minutes; then rinse and dry the hair.
Apply to the root area in ½-inch sections: ½ oz N4 and ½ oz G6 (a chocolate brown)
While processing, add lowlights. Using the end of a tail comb, weave out selected strands.
Place on a color palette and apply the same
formula from roots to ends.
Work throughout the head adding lowlights,
alternating weaves and heavy slices.
Process for 20 minutes at room temperature
and rinse.
Now gloss using G6 (medium brown) in ½-inch
sections to tone down the highlighted shades.
Massage the color into the hair and process forfive to 10 minutes. Rinse and use cuticle sealer for five minutes. Rinse and follow with K-PAK Color Therapy Conditioner.
Blow dry the hair over a round brush.
Use a styling iron to create waves.
To create the fringe, direct ¼-inch sections forward and project 90 degrees. Using a thinning
shear, cut to leave a long, soft bang.
Blend down into the lengths by directing sections forward, over-directing and flipping at the finger. Cut to angle and leave a soft finish.
