HOW TO: ARTIST SESSION's "Fresh Top" Hair and NailsOne of the most talked about looks from the Spring 2013 ARTIST SESSION is the Fresh Top finish shown on page 103 of Modern's June 2013 issue. So many questions:  how did she do that? which is her hair? what's going on with the sides? what's the deal with the nails?

Franchiska Bryant, Master Stylist and Director of the Jose Luis Salon of Austin, Texas, decided to go "hip hop" for this, her first ARTIST SESSION. "Model Shannon was a great inspiration for me," she says. "Hip hop is coming back, but with a modern twist. I've seen it on the runways and on the streets of Austin. It's so fresh and clean."

For the nails, Celebrity nail artist Maisie Dunbar embraced the hip hop theme. "It's a throw back to the 80's and 90's," she says. "I chose colors that were fun and to go with the fashion and the rings." Dunbar mixed up the look with multiple shades from Zoya, China Glaze and Essie.

These videos (each just over one minute) offer a break down of the hair and nails, and the last video actually shows HOW Bryant got the very FLAT Fresh Top.
