Not long after the inception of IGK Salons, the artists behind them were offered a product deal for IGK Hair. Now, the edgy, easy-to-use, affordable and just plain cool product line is getting ready to get in the hands of salon pros by launching at SalonCentric this fall.

“With a lineup of products enhanced by education, current trends, the lifestyles of their jetsetter clientele and the cities they live in, IGK truly stands as the voice of the global consumer.”

Fantastic Four

The founders of IGK call themselves a hair super team of four stylists—Franck Izquierdo, Chase Kusero, Aaron Grenia and Leo Izquierdo—hailing from various parts of the world. Their goal is to create products designed to fit the lives and needs of both the client and the hairstylist. IGK’s products are inspired by one of three cities, New York, L.A. and Miami (more on that later), which happen to be each of the cities the founders now call home. They have worked together in these cities, all coming from a background in global education with Prive, and now say that, beyond business partners, they are a tight-knit family.

“The four of us have been working together for a long time, and I think we’re creating a new movement,” says Leo Izquierdo. “The line goes with us and the way we do hair.”

Read more on each of the founders below, from left to right in the above photo.

Beauty Bio: Aaron Grenia
Salon
: IGK NYC, housed in the Dream Hotel in the Meatpacking District
Notable clientele: Created looks for designers Carolina Herrera, Dolce and Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta and Marc Jacobs
Best known for: His signature short style—edgy, tousled and feminine.

Beauty Bio: Franck Izquierdo
Salon
: Co-runs IGK Salon, Miami at the SLS Hotel with his brother, Leo
Notable Clientele: Head stylist at Donna Karan’s shows and celebrities including Cedric Gervais, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Miguel
Best known for: Working with the geometry of the hair, complimenting a client’s face shape with symmetrical layers and the natural fall of the style (his looks are notorious for being impossible to replicate due to their complexity to read)

Beauty Bio: Chase Kusero
Salon
: Based in L.A.
Notable Clientele: Jared Leto (yes, Kusero was behind Leto’s ombre man-bun look from the Oscars), Paris Hilton and Vanessa Lachey
Best known for: Creating strong looks based on what looks good on the client and their face, not just replicating trends

Beauty Bio: Leo Izquierdo
Salon
: Co-runs IGK Salon, Miami at the SLS Hotel with his brother, Franck
Notable Clientele: Fashion houses Lanvin and Chloe, designer Vera Wang and singer Lykke Li
Best known for: Long hair, lengthy layers, beach waves, blondes and dirty styling, creating a combination of dirty and shiny hair

The New Generation of Haircare

“Each bottle speaks to the badass in all of us.”

Every formula created by IGK—from the scent to the packaging to the use for the product itself (think anti-humidity for Miami, etc.)—is inspired by the founders’ “signature cities” where they work and play—New York, L.A. and Miami. But, according to IGK, while each product embodies the soul of its city, they are all designed to work together.

“We have a story behind our product line,” says Grenia. “It’s the result of years of collaboration.”

Here are some stats on each city’s collection:

New York:

Packaging: Gritty, sophisticated
Fragrance notes: Black pepper, dewy violet, blackberry, geranium and leather accord

L.A.:

Packaging: Allure of fame and fortune
Fragrance notes: Bergamot, lemon zest, mimosa, heliotrope and black amber

Miami:

Packaging: Tropical and bright
Fragrance notes: Guava, coconut, pink lotus, midnight violet and vanilla

Bred for the modern generation, each product has its own hashtag so you and your clients can search the hashtag on Instagram to see how to use the product and looks created using it.

Having released 21 SKUs, the complete line contains dry shampoo, coconut oil gel, ombre highlight spray and more. IGK products are available now at Sephora (as of July 12) and launching at SalonCentric for distribution within salon channels in October.
