NYC Salon Helps Disadvantaged Women

Rather than putting their combs and shears to rest, on Monday, September 13th, a day the salon is usually closed, the staff at the Christopher Stanley Salon in NYC put them towards a good cause and donated their time and expertise to help the women of Bottomless Closet NYC, a local non-profit that helps disadvantaged New York City women with their professional, financial and personal goals-and become more self-sufficient.

The stylists at Christopher Stanley not only gave complimentary cuts and blowouts to the women, but also taught them how to style their hair and let them take home a complimentary product that was specific to their hair needs. Stanley, co-owner of the Christopher Stanley Salon, remarked, "I just always think that for as lucky as I am, it's important to give back. I love that I can lend my expertise by donating a hair cut or styling session that allows me to share my passion with others for a good cause."

NYC Salon Helps Disadvantaged WomenSome of the women of Bottomless Closet left the salon teary eyed, mesmerized by their new hair styles. Doris Nelson didn't have a hair cut in four years and had been wanting one for a long time. Stanley removed six inches from her hair and taught her how to work with her naturally wavy texture.

Leana Dominguez said, "It feels good to be pampered. I had forgotten how that felt." Doris Patino couldn't stop running her fingers through her freshly cut hair, "I feel so different. I had been turned away from a few salons because I was losing my hair and was afraid that I could never afford a hair cut at a salon that would actually be able to help me."

It was a special day for the women of Bottomless Closet NYC who are unable to afford the experience of going to a salon that many of us take for granted. The Christopher Stanley Salon hopes to have more events like this in the future and would like to anniversary their partnership with Bottomless Closet NYC for next year
