“My new client came to me with a bad home ‘bleach job,’” Daisy Goord (@daisy_goord), based at March Hair, Plymouth, United Kingdom, says. “She’s naturally a level 5 and has a lot of banding and orange. Of course, she showed me the classic picture of Kim K platinum blonde. Most stylists would tell her no but I explained to her it’s going to be a big and expensive job.”
PLATINUM CARD:
Goord and assistant Pascale (@pascalecm) got busy, using Goord’s favorite “platinum card technique” - taking extremely fine sections and placing them in foil for maximum lift. “This takes around 2 hours to apply,” Goord says, “even with help! It’s definitely not a technique for the faint hearted!”
FORMULA:
Natural root - Wella Blondor // Start with 20 volume and bumped up to 30 volume halfway through
Mid banding - Wella Blondor 13 volume
Ends - Wella Blondor 6 volume
SHADOW ROOT AND TONER:
After the desired lift, Goord went in and shadow rooted and toned at the basin. “We also kept a bold face frame at the front for that pop of blonde around the hair line.”
TONER FORMULA:
Wella Illumina 10/69 40g + 9/60 15g + 10/93 5g + 6/16 3g + 6 volume
(Added in a little bit of gold to stop the blonde from going too dull!)
SHADOW ROOT FORMULA:
Wella Color Touch 5/1 + 5/0 + 6 volume
Olaplex used in every step.
