Even though Groundhog Phil saw his shadow in the little town of Punxsutawney, PA, four days ago on Groundhog's Day predicting another six weeks of Winter, it's never too soon to start thinking about springtime! This Spring your clients are sure to want a change of style that will bring their hair out of the Winter doldrums, so why not recommend some new make-up to brighten up their looks? This year, the trend I am seeing is all about power pastels, bright lilacs, golds, and even mossy/kiwi greens.

Inspired by soft, seaside hues, Aveda’s limited edition Sea Blossoms Make-up Collection for spring/summer 2012 consists of pastels of pink, coral, violet and blue. Infusions of heavier grays and greens intermix with velvety tones to create warm spring/summer looks. “Sea Blossoms brings beauty at the beach back to life inspired by coral reef technicolors on shimmering skin paired with soft aquatic pastels,” says Janell Geason, global make-up artist for Aveda. “The look suggests an easy, ‘70s at the beach feel.” Aveda.com.

Brush on Beauty

A natural look with a pop of bright make-up color is trending with clients of all ages looking for a fun youthful look, says Dinair Airbrush Make-up. Try giving your clients a burst of fresh color with Lively Lilac, Lemon Cream or Cool Kiwi. For a radiant glow use colors with a shimmery finish such as the new harvest Pumpkin and Rose Gold Colors. By mixing dark and light colors together it will add dimension to the eyes, cheeks and lips for a puckered look that pops. Dinair.com.

Lets Bake!

Your Name Professional Brands has just introduced six new “baked” powders with an airy, ethereal texture that helps even out skin tone and diffuse imperfections. Each Baked Hydrating Powder Foundation is individually baked on its own terracotta tile—not allowing moisture to escape—creating a super fine, micronized powder that’s creamy. To achieve this look use Your Name’s Baked Hydrating Powder Foundation in Medium and Baked Eye Shadow in Dovetail. Find more information about the products at yournamepro.com in their redesigned Spring 2012 Brochure.
