Sassoon-trained stylist Mio Sota often discovers her inspirations through taking a moment to look at the beautiful world we live in.
“Living a busy, city life, it can be easy to forget to appreciate the how amazing this universe really is,” says Sota. She is particularly fascinated by the dark vapors on a background of starlights, hence her collection Dark Nebulae, featuring Goldwell color.
“Much like the dark cloud, my vision was to manipulate and utilize the color in such way that really showcases the shapes and movements of my cuts, which were created with intricacy and irregularity,” she says.
Existing: Natural Level 7 with decolorized midst and ends.
Formula/Application: Goldwell Silk Lift Strong + Intensive serum + 6% developer and process 45 minutes. Shampoo with Dual Senses Shampoo. Toned with 60 mls Colorance Lotion + 20mls 10BS + 5mls 9N + 5mls Clear. Process 7-12 mins.
Rinse, condition and towel dry. Apply Elumen Prepare and dry hair. Section fringe and working in a triangular section slicing horizontally using a back-back technique with Elumen 10mls AB@9 + 5mls TQ@ALL + 5mls GN@ALL + 2mls BL@ALL. Shampoo with Elumen Wash and Treat.
Existing: Natural Level 6 with 5R mids and ends.
Formula/Application: Process System Color Remover under heat for 20 minutes. Shampoo, condition and dry hair. Section along left parietal and using a horizontal back-to-back slice technique, apply equal parts TopChic 4MG + 3% from base to mids, then turn brush vertically and feather in Silk Lift Strong 6% + intensive serum.
In the front fringe, isolate an acorn shape and slice diagonally, rotating three slices of 4MG Topchic to 2 slices Silk Lift. Process for 10 minutes, mix 40 mls TopChic 6% + 35mls 4MG + 5mls Blonding Cream. Process for 30 minutes. Rinse, condition and apply Elumen Prepare and dry hair. On all decolorized details, apply equal parts Elumen BL + PK. Process under heat 20 minutes. Shampoo with Elumen Wash and Treat.
Existing: Natural level 8 with decolorized mids and ends.
Formula/Application: First isolate two boomerang-shaped sections along top of right side of head. Apply on base equal parts 40mls 6RR + TopChic 3%. In the first boomerang, apply base formula, then utilizing a soft blending technique mix 20mls PK@ALL + 5mls VV@ALL.
For the next boomerang, apply the base and, using same blending technique, utilize 20mls 7RR + 5mls RR Mix + 25mls 6% lotion. Apply ends after details utilizing 35mls 6RR + 5mls RR Mix + 40 mls TopChic 3%. Process for 30 minutes. Rinse with Dual Senses Shampoo and Conditioner.
