Makeover by Ashlie Marmo

“This transformation was by far, one of my favorites,” Ashlie Marmo (@ashytones) of Posh Color Studio, Easton, PA, says. “This woman came in as a new client. It was her birthday and she was ready for a makeover. She explained she wanted a lot of red violet in her hair while still keeping dimension throughout. She also wanted to have a rooty look so she could have a softer grow out.” Marmo points out her natural base color was already dark so she decided to utilize the depth.

When it came to the lengths, there were some challenges. “She had a lot going on throughout her hair, including  covering up an old blonde balayage with a box color.” There was banding and uneven shading so Marmo used balayage and proper toning to create a breathtaking finish and meet her client’s desired result.

Here Marmo shares the details for the correction:

STEP 1: Balayage throughout to try to break up some of the bands using JoicoFreePlay with 30 volume developer. Process to desired result, rinse and towel dry.

STEP 2: Apply Pravana ChromaSilk 5.66 and 5.62 with 10 volume developer to the lightened hair. Process for 25 minutes and then rinse.

STEP 3: Gloss withRedken Shades EQ EQ 3RV 4RV 5RB and Processing Liquid. Process for 15 minutes then shampoo and condition.
