BIG TRANSFORMATION: Going Short And Spicy

Joanna Rivera (@j0j0styles), owner of @nylahairstudiospringhill, Springhill, Florida, has an incredible Instagram page filled with beautiful finishes and dramatic makeovers. When we stumbled upon this transformation, we had to know more.

Here she shares the story and HOW TO:

"This was a first time guest for me who hadn't come to a salon in years.  She wanted a dramatic summer-time change. We cut off over 18 inches and donated it to Wigs For Kids. She arrived with a natural level 8/9 with overall very brittle hair."

Step 1: Cut 18 inches of hair, while also thinning some of the bulkiness using thinning shears.

Step 2: Pre treat hair with Malibu C to remove any harsh minerals and restore moisture and vibrancy. Apply from roots to ends and process for 5 minutes.

Step 3: Shampoo twice with Paul Mitchell Moisture shampoo.

Step 4: Power dry hair and apply full color, equal parts 6N & 7N Paul Mitchell The Color. Part Partial on top with two colors alternating 6R & 10V and Wella Blondor with 20V using a sliced weave technique.

Step 5: Process for 30 minutes. Apply Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Moisture Mist to control the highlights to get the desired tone.

Step 6:  Using cool water, shampoo and condition using Paul Mitchell Platinum Blonde & Awapuhi Cream Rinse. Blow dry & style with Quick Slip, Round Trip, and Super Skinny while using a Paul Mitchell Neuro Dryer and Neuro Smooth Flat iron.
